"You're All I Need to Get By": Black Doctoral Women's Peer Mentoring Experiences

Abstract

This phenomenological study illustrates the effectiveness of peer mentorship for a Black woman doctoral student and her two peer mentors who are advanced Black women doctoral students. These women attend a large predominantly white university in the Midwest. Findings from their narratives suggest that peer mentoring relationships are vital to the academic success and wellbeing for Black women in doctoral programs.
