This study explores the efforts required to convert a large-scale PD program into a high quality, scalable and sustainable online course, utilizing the Quality Matters (QM) Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) Standards to guide the design efforts. Using a mixed-methods approach, the goal was to assess from the students’ perspective, whether our course achieved QM Certification level scores and to determine what worked well or could be improved for future online courses. This study has implications for how intensive, online PD can be designed and evaluated in order to promote the quality and continuous improvement of online PD.
