School Culture and Teacher Retention in Mexico

Tue, April 21, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Abstract

The present quantitative study will examine school culture factors that influence job attrition among teachers in Mexico using 2013 TALIS data. While research on teacher retention in the U.S. and Europe is abundant, research on teacher retention and attrition in Latin America is much more scarce and is especially limited in Mexico. Thus both qualitative and quantitative research is needed to examine factors that influence teacher retention and attrition in Mexico. Much research has shown that various school culture factors influence teacher retention and attrition. Thus the goal of the present study is to see which school factors have the strongest effect on teacher attrition and retention in Mexico.
