While research-practice partnerships call for mutually beneficial collaboration across professional educational entities, building and sustaining such collaboration can often be a daunting task. With the goal of redesigning an initial certification elementary education program we worked for the past two years with a range of educators, administrators, and professionals to form a research-practice partnership. We worked to develop mutuality across a long-term programmatic change that involved a diverse range of voices across educational stakeholders. This paper reports on the process of designing a program and plans to sustain this partnership, which will help our vision of preparing a group of educators who are committed to inclusive, democratic, and participatory learning environments, while building strong, reciprocal relationships with stakeholders.
