Piloting the Digital Game Usage in the Mathematics Classroom Survey

Fri, April 17, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

There is strong theoretical and empirical support for the use of digital games for learning. In spite of this, digital games are not widely used in mathematics classrooms. A main contributor to this lack of adoption is the lack of research focused on if and how teachers are using digital games in the mathematics classroom, and if not, what barriers hinder their use of digital games. In order to begin answering these questions, the Digital Game Usage in the Mathematics Classroom Survey was developed. This proposal reports on the pilot data that was collected prior to the dissemination of the survey to a national population in order to determine the reliability and validity of the survey.
