Not All Test-Anxious Teacher Candidates Are Created Equal on Motivation, Delay of Gratification, and Self-Regulation

Sat, April 18, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

The relationship between test anxiety and academic performance is complex and after decades of research, it is not entirely clear how this human emotion is associated with learners’ motivation and self-regulated learning (Postareff et at, 2017). Test anxiety manifests through physiological arousal, somatic symptoms, as well as worry and fear of failure experienced by learners before or during test situations. This study examined the association between teacher candidates’ levels of test anxiety and their motivation, delay of gratification, self-regulation, and academic performance. We used cluster analysis procedure to identify teacher candidates’ levels of test anxiety.
