This study examines the dimensions of Motivation for Reading Scale (MRS) with Multidimensional Scaling. The MRS consists of 21 items in four subconstructs: a) reading as part of self, b) reading efficacy, c) reading for recognition, and d) reading to do well in other realms. One thousand five hundred and seventeen undergraduate students participated in this study and MRS was delivered to them. To compare with Schutt and Malouff’s factor analysis, the constructs in our study are different in some dimensions. This suggests that a) the construct of the instrument may be reevaluated and b) it is possible that different settings and different cultural groups can bring the chance in the constructs and subconstructs of the Motivation for Reading Scale.
