Addressing Homelessness Among Community College Students in Washington: A Randomized Control Trial of Housing Vouchers

Sat, April 18, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Housing stability has demonstrable impacts on children’s school performance and yet housing interventions have not consistently produced positive impacts on educational outcomes. As a result, housing authorities around the nation are testing new programs, including those that expand the continuum of support into higher education. The College Housing Assistance Program (CHAP) created by the Tacoma Housing Authority (THA) and Tacoma Community College (TCC) targets housing assistance to people who have already enrolled in higher education but have severe housing needs.
