A Qualitative Study Exploring the Relationships Between Graduate Students of Color and Faculty Through Testimonios

Sat, April 18, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Guided by a Critical Race Theory framework, the purpose of this study is to explore the experiences–– both positive and negative–– between students of color in graduate and professional schools with their respective faculty as viewed by the students at a Predominantly White Institution. In addition, we also investigate the skills and practices that graduate students of color consider that faculty should possess in order to enhance their class and program experiences. Data derives from a qualitative study using CRT’s and LatCrit’s methodological approach of testimonios.
