Designing, Validating, and Successfully Implementing a Student Satisfaction Survey at a Land-Granted Research University

Mon, April 20, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

In developing a customized survey instrument based on student satisfaction, it is important to identify the potential key aspects relevant to the current student. It is essential to find out what students think about the overall campus climate and environment. The purpose of this study is to design a survey instrument tailored to capture the qualities and key elements of student satisfaction in higher education, as it applies to land-granted institutions. The instrument consists of 26 items and has four factors: Academic, Campus life, Campus services, and Diversity. The instrument was administered to students enrolled in a Midwest land-grant research university. Results of analysis confirmed that it is a valid and reliable measure of students’ satisfaction.
