This proposal pushes researchers, teachers, and other stakeholders of educational organizations to understand how teaching context and teacher background can affect outcomes related to supporting historically marginalized students and families. Data come from two separate case studies in which the community contexts of two different public-school teachers were analyzed to understand the ways they were able, or unable, to implement culturally responsive teaching or multicultural teaching strategies within their classrooms.
