Distributed and Instructional Leadership and Teachers' Professional and Instructional Practices: Evidence From the Teaching and Learning International Survey 2018

Fri, April 17, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

This paper assesses the causal connection between leadership practices, teacher professional practices, and teacher’s instructional practices in school using the most current Teacher and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2018. Results from a multilevel path model (MSEM) demonstrated that distributed and instructional leadership have direct and indirect effects on teacher professional practice with indirect effects mediated by teacher’s professional practices-teacher cooperation. Study results provide evidence that leadership and professional practices at the school level influence how the practice is operationalized. Further research is necessary to identify how these distributed leadership perceptions effect, teacher cooperation, efficacy, and student achievement.
