The aim of this research is to analyze the mediation effect of information and communications technology (ICT) usage for studying as well as perceived control on the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and math achievement. To examine whether these two hypothesized mediators narrow the gap in the math achievement based on SES, structural equation modeling was conducted using the PISA 2012 Italy and Spain dataset. The results showed that both ICT usage for studying and positive perceived control has significant but negligible mediation effect on the relationship between SES and math achievement. Especially, ICT usage for studying outside of school showed negative mediation effect, indicating it actually broadens the gap of math achievement caused by SES differences.
