Preservice Teachers' Perception of Technology Competencies Based on the New Technology Standards

Abstract

This research investigated pre-service teachers’ perceptions of technology competencies using the Teacher Preparation Technology Inventory developed based on ISTE Standards for Educators. An explanatory sequential mixed methods approach was conducted at one university of education, dedicating to preparing elementary school teachers in South Korea. 342 students participated in the survey and 19 students will attend the focus group interviews. The quantitative data were analyzed to understand the relationship between variables using SPSS. The qualitative data will be analyzed using the content analysis method. The research shows that overall pre-service teachers’ perceptions of their technology competencies was somewhat low.
