Revisiting Equity in Postsecondary Education Through the Equity Scorecard

Abstract

This study adopts critical discourse analysis (CDA) as a methodological tool to examine the outcomes of the Equity Scorecard reports at thirteen predominantly white community colleges in the Midwest. Findings suggest that these institutions acknowledged that their institutional culture did not properly serve the needs of students of color. However, they struggled to take actionable steps to actualize a more equitable institutional cultures for students of color.
