A Comparison of Sources of Self-Efficacy Among U.S. and Vietnamese Teachers: A Review of Research

Abstract

This thematic review of research is guided by two main purposes. The first is to identify similarities and differences in sources of self-efficacy among U.S. and Vietnamese teachers. The second is to examine the influence of cultural factors on teaching self-efficacy among teachers in these two nations. Given that, two research questions are addressed: (1) What are similarities and differences in sources of teaching self-efficacy among U.S. and Vietnamese teachers? and (2) How do cultural dimensions (i.e., small versus large power distance, individualism versus collectivism, and masculinity versus femininity) affect teaching self-efficacy among teachers in these two countries? The findings of this review have important implications for practice and research.
