This research explores the evolving perspectives on global citizenship of secondary students as they participate in GELS, a global experiential learning simulation. This study is situated within the literature on the meaningfulness of simulated learning experiences and the development of student perspectives of global citizenship. We seek to answer the following research question: How does the participation in an experiential learning simulation impact the evolution of secondary student perspectives on global citizenship? Preliminary findings indicate three major themes as a result of participation in a global experiential learning simulation: an increased awareness of global issues, a desire to create change within the local community, and a lack of knowledge and resources to transform their desire into action.
