Educators' Prioritization of Topics for Research

Sat, April 18, 10:35am to 12:05pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Despite the need to increase research use and provide professional learning resources aligned with educator needs, educator voice is noticeably absent when identifying research priorities. Through a lens of self-directed learning, we consider how educator ownership of research topics might increase and sustain research use in professional learning. Associated with a convening series aimed to explore how educator voice contributes to the national research agenda, educators responded to a series of questions about the topics on which they would like to see research. Through emergent coding, we developed a taxonomy of 118 topics for research. Here, we consider the top ten topics identified by educators on several measures, as well as how topic themes vary across and within educator samples.
