This study examines the ways in which a student-run online journal, which is associated with a major academic journal, engages a diverse readership by translating peer reviewed research into accessible, timely content. The authors examine the research trends of the journal and online publication to explore the range of topics and the types of engagement among authors and readers. This paper explores important topics related to the perceived validity of online sources of information, the value proposition of using online publications as a bridge between academic and practitioner audiences, how the use of social media to disseminate research-grounded ideas manifests in an uncontrolled online environment, and the effects of social media use on who is engaging in educational issues.
