Overregulating Community College Students Through Financial Aid Verification and Disbursement Policies

Abstract

The financial aid process goes beyond students submitting a FAFSA application. Utilizing mixed methods, the author conducts analyses of institutional data and interviews of community college students to understand the barriers that exists in the financial aid process. Implications from this study focus on verification and disbursement policies and practices that delay community college students receiving their financial aid.
