Changing the Odds: Moving From Priority to Performing School

Fri, April 17, 12:00 to 1:30pm, Virtual Room

Abstract

Identification and examination of successful strategies for fostering and sustaining improvement among the lowest performing schools have become increasingly important as a result of federal ESSA guidelines. A mixed-methods evaluation was conducted to systematically, collect, analyze and share information about the context, activities, and early impacts of one school’s implementation of a customized school improvement service. After one year of support, this school, once designated by the state as in need of additional support and improvement, no longer has a priority label. Evaluation results highlight the importance of building supportive partnerships and aligning support services to the needs of individual schools.
