The paper investigates whether and how self-regulated learning (SRL) and interaction mediate the effect of personality traits on online learning outcome. A survey study of 696 participants enrolled at XuetangX is implemented. According to the survey, all dimensions of Big Five are highly correlated with other educational factors, especially conscientiousness and emotional stability. More importantly, personality traits has a significant effect on learning outcome, which is mediated by individual’s SRL and interaction. Besides, this study offers insight into online learning to researchers, instructors and stakeholders of online platform.
