In special education literature, an conceptual debate about the compatibility of academic standardization with individual well-being. There were no studies I found that examine this from the perspective of Special Education Education (SEEs). In a climate of increased standardization, marketization, teacher accountability, and the politicization of education. With a push in Ontario schools for curriculum focusing on indigeneity, anti-black racism, and the racialization of students mandates have considerable value when addressing issues around equity and inclusion. Hence, the objective of this study is to explore exceptional special education workers’ perceptions of how they foster well-being for their most challenging students. I report an in-depth examination of how SEEs have been successful in (re)establishing relationships with students who demonstrate challenging behaviours.
