This collective case study provides insights into the ways that superintendents mobilize pedagogical leadership teams in three highly successful and learning focused school districts. Themes from our cross-case analysis generated five major assertions: (a) framing leadership research in action, (b) building purposeful professional relationships, (c) modelling ongoing collaborative professional learning, (d) mobilizing networks of pedagogical leadership teams, and (e) integrating external and internal expertise. Data from individual and focus group interviews, documents, artifacts, field notes, and an online survey were gathered, analyzed in pursuit of transferable insights for district leaders practicing in other settings.
