This research examines how Outdoor Product Design and Development students learn through experiential, place-based field experience. Framing occurs through the lens of Landscapes of Practice with an emphasis on identity, knowledgeability, and boundaries. A single case study, our dataset is examined through bottom-up top-down coding. Data were collected during a three-and-a-half week field course that took place in Moab, Utah. Initial findings indicated directions for future research on field experiences as curriculum.
