In this theoretical paper, we consider how feminist theories, specifically the works of Audre Lorde, Gloria AnzaldĂșa, and Sara Ahmed, speak to shifts to make teacher education culturally relevant to preservice teachers of color. In feminist theory, we identify a theme of transformative emotional work which we suggest can inform teacher educators' efforts to validate students' embodied knowledges and distribute the emotional work of challenging racism.
