Abstract

This paper presents an enacted curriculum study for a large scale alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards (AA-AAS). The study presents survey results obtained from a large sample of test administrators. Topics examined include student characteristics, impact of the AA-AAS on teachers' instruction; instructional practices in math, ELA, and science; assessment practices; technology and assistive technology; student behavior; and barriers faced by teachers in implementing the curriculum. Descriptive statistics are provided. Implications of the results for current and future test development for this AA-AAS, as well as implications for the field based on enacted curricula for students with significant intellectual disabilities are discussed.
