Social stratification represents a challenge to the ways that we theorize about justice. Not only does stratification complicate our ability to universally apply directives around the demands of justice, but it also introduces a moving target of sorts. That said, how do we theorize about the demands of justice given a stratified society (which may well be inherently incongruous with justice)? In this paper, I aim to tackle one subset of this question by providing a framework for upwardly mobile parents of Black children when deciding in which schools they should enroll their children.
