Education is a highly feminized profession and yet the educational labor force is stratified by gender. The purpose of this quantitative resume audit study is to investigate gender bias in hiring decisions as a gatekeeping mechanism limiting women’s access to educational administration positions. It tests whether decision makers favor candidates who are men over women with identical experience and skills. Early findings suggest decision makers may favor candidates who are men over women with identical experience and skills. These findings set the stage for future research to more comprehensively study access to educational administration.
