The purpose of this photovoice constructivist grounded theory study will be to examine the developmental process of transborder identity for transfronterizx college students from the San Diego-Tijuana border region by identifying the sociocultural factors that influence their identities. I will construct a transborder cultural identity development model grounded on the participants’ reflections about their transborder interactions and sociocultural environment that shapes their identities. I will use photovoice and grounded theory methodology as a tool to collect data and engage participants to reflect upon their identities through photography and dialogue. A total of 20 to 50 transfronterizx college students and former college students from higher education institutions near the San Diego border region will be recruited to participate in this study.
