In this paper, I review the literature between 1994 and 2017 on ethical leadership practices of urban school principals and their influence on cultivating ethical school cultures/climates. This focus on the ethically-minded leadership practices of urban school principals and its influence on the school cultures of the urban schools they lead is important because I believe that school leaders—principals first and foremost—are the primary visioneers and stewards of the responsibilities and challenges that ushering, administrating and shepherding school culture/climate poses. The primary question guiding the research in this paper is: How do/can ethical forms of educational leadership practiced by urban school principals cultivate an ethical school culture/climate?
