Community Bridges for Sustainability in the 2030 Educational Divide

Abstract

In 2018, one principal in Los Angeles, California, researched embedded assets for global sustainability and social justice, then systematically connected them to community-based assets to build bridges for sustainability for 2030 and beyond.
The ethnographic, qualitative case study challenges schools to take inventory of their community assets and resources to connect the learning process to relevant and complex challenges of sustainability for 2030 and beyond. The optimization of the human development is key in unfolding the full human potential and is at its core a question of social justice and equity. Community-based schools can impact the individual child and society as a whole. (UN, 2019); (Sen, 2011).
