A Modern Creative Economy: Equity, Access, and Justice

Abstract

The reality of being a working artist is tougher than its romanticized notions. While we consume and otherwise take advantage of creative fields in almost every aspect of our lives, for creatives, making a living is often the biggest challenge they face. When labor produced merges with the passion of a producer, the opportunity for exploitation is vast. As a community organizer, my focus has been on creating equity, access, and justice in the creative community that supports the creative economy in X has a robust creative economy that encompasses centuries and disciplines. This workshop will demonstrate how this process can be applied to your own work and how we can acknowledge our expertise in more humanizing and socially just ways.
