Intersectionality. Intersectional Praxis: A Catalyst for Collective Vulnerability and Liberatory Learning Among Critical Educators of Color

Abstract

"Through this piece, we advance the need to dismantle the colonial white supremacist nature of schools and professional development that alienate and harm critical educators of Color (CEoC) committed to social justice. While scholars have highlighted obstacles that teachers of Color (ToC) face within the profession (Achinstein, Ogawa, Sexton & Freitas, 2010), missing from the discussion is how they resist and heal from the internalized, interpersonal and structural forms of oppression that they experience, particularly through grassroots teacher organizing. Responding to this issue, we investigated how CEoC organize spaces to engage in collective vulnerability and intersectional praxis as a form of resistance in the field.
