"This chapter explores the cumulative effects of the teacher licensure tests on Latina/o teacher candidates. The participants’ counter-stories illustrate that to those teacher candidates who fail required teacher licensure tests multiple times, the tests can come to occupy a major part of their academic life during teacher education and give them emotional distress of prolonged duration. The chapter ends with a series of recommendations to produce more Latina/o teachers in particular and more teachers of color in general.
