Design-Based School Improvement: Perspectives From Chile, the United States, and Germany

Abstract

This working group roundtable comparatively explores the work of research-practice partnerships (RPP) between researchers and public school districts in three countries, the United States, Chile, and Germany. The RPP's in the three countries have a common focus: to further school improvement through design-based or improvement science oriented logics. The three countries differ in the degree of governance centralization, managerialism at the school leadership level, and teacher professionalism. In the roundtable, authors from the three countries explore how these differences shape the work of the RPP's.
