Session Summary

Moving Toward the Public Good: Collaborative Research on the Complexities of Multilingual Writing

Sat, April 18, 4:05 to 5:30pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This symposium examines multilingual writers’ identities and language and literacy practices by addressing the multi-faceted collaboration with stakeholders across contexts. We collaboratively unpack the importance of collaboration with stakeholders and complexities of multilingual writing to discuss ways in which multilingual writers leverage their transnational experience as resources and/or develop their writing strategies for a variety of purposes. Thus, this symposium underlines the various contexts of multilinguals’ language and literacy practices in different ages across methodologies and theoretical frameworks. This collaboration not only opens space for stakeholders to reflect on their involvement in multilinguals’ writing and literacy and its impact but allows researchers and stakeholders to envision together a more equitable and just learning for multilingual writers.
