Session Summary

For the Public Good: Women in Educational Leadership Across the Continents

Sat, April 18, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session provides new insights into the means by which women in leadership seek to disrupt the status quo in their countries and address the global public good. Addressing AERA’s theme, “The Power and Possibilities for the Public Good When Researchers and Organizational Stakeholders Collaborate,” the session features five research investigations from Costa Rica, Fiji, Ireland, Pakistan, and Rwanda. They invite scholarly practices that engage with a variety of stakeholders, leading to narratives, policies, and practices aimed at transforming civil society for the public good. Presenters explore how scholars in higher education from diverse cultures share common values that provide nuanced and sophisticated progress toward establishing societies committed to transforming power dynamics and leading to new narratives, policies, and practices.
