Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session describes four evaluations of school interventions targeting social, personal, academic, and employment skills for students with disabilities. The first presentation will describe an evaluation of the impact of Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools, a whole-school social inclusion program, on graduation rates of students with disabilities. The second and third presentations will describe the impact of Jobs for Maine’s Graduates – a dropout prevention and school to career program targeting at-risk students – on students with disabilities’ high school graduation and later life employment. The fourth study will describe the impact of Virtual Reality Job Interview Training implemented within the transition curriculum for students with disabilities. The session will conclude by linking the evidence from these programs to previous successful practices.
