Session Summary

Igniting Discussions About Measures for K–12 Mathematics Education Contexts

Fri, April 17, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

The purpose of this symposium is to share research related to new grades 3-12 measures for mathematics education scholarship. It builds upon work stemming from a National Science Foundation funded conference titled Validity Evidence for Measurement in Mathematics Education (V-M2Ed). Taken collectively, the five mathematics measures present opportunities and challenges related to conducting research with quantitative measures. Five measures, spanning elementary, middle, and high school, and their validation arguments will be presented. A discussant will synthesize from the presentations and challenge scholars to engage colleagues in quantitative instrument development for mathematics education contexts.
