Session Type: Symposium
While translanguaging have demonstrated pedagogical promises to serve emergent bilinguals, we have yet to find sustainable ways to make translanguaging pedagogies norms in our classroom spaces. This work requires researchers to develop a deep knowledge of and relationship with various classroom contexts. Therefore, we believe that it is crucial to adopt equitable forms of teacher-researcher collaboration to unleash and realize the potential of translanguaging pedagogies in language classrooms. This symposium brings together four groups of scholars who work with teachers closely to co-design and implement translanguaging pedagogies in different second language learning contexts. It aims to highlight the possibilities and challenges of teacher-researcher collaboration and call for more participatory research to resist the monolingual bias that pervades educational institutions today.
