Session Type: Symposium
This symposium centers on the work resulting from a research partnership between practitioners and researchers focused on improving Arts and Physical Education programming. These presentations share results from: exploratory case studies conducted jointly by curriculum specialists and a researcher at select schools to understand features of program quality in these discipline areas (paper 1); conducting descriptive analyses examining questions of access and impacts associated with high quality programs (paper 2); and, examining how district staff use the research to determine strategies for improving PE and Arts education throughout the district (paper 3). A national expert on education policy engaged with research-practice partnerships with large urban districts will discuss the implications of this work for researchers and practitioners seeking to improve educational opportunities for all students.
