Session Type: Demonstration/Performance
Building on previous collaborative performance/workshops, beginning at AERA2018, three artist/educators present their developing methodology for collaborative meaning making through movement and mark-making. A dancer, a drawer, and a comics maker interact with each other’s marks and movements improvised in real time. After a set of introductory drawing and movement exercises, participants will be invited to translate this methodology into a means of examining a real life issue in their work or personal life that relates to the common good. They will form groups to create their own movement and marks performance to address common interests and concerns. The session will culminate with a discussion on how this methodology might be applied and adapted to particular contexts.
