Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together research that address undocumented youth’s experiences of education across multiple contexts. Context is a central theme of this panel; the papers in this panel investigate a range of contexts within which to grapple with the impacts of policies that produce illegality (De Genova, 2002), both across geographies (state, national, and international contexts) and across schooling levels (elementary, secondary, and higher education). Through examining the intersection of education and undocumented status, we also attend to the everyday lives of youth in understanding the contours of their experiences as well as those who come into systematic contact with them in educational settings: teachers, school administrators, social workers, and peers.
