Engaging Students in Systems Change: Embracing Multiple Research-Practice Partnership Stakeholders in Transformative Student Voice Work

Sun, April 19, 8:15 to 9:45am, Virtual Room

Session Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

This symposium highlights core learnings, tensions, and challenges gleaned from varied iterations of collaborative partnerships engaged in Transformative Student Work (TSV). We draw on examples from research practice partnerships (RPPs) spanning six universities, eight education providers, and three states. We bring together multiple stakeholders, including researchers, district leaders, community based organizations, teachers, and youth, in a discussion of the many ways to engage students in systems level change. The objectives for this session are first, to illustrate the tensions and possibilities of transformative student voice research and practice from multiple stakeholder perspectives, and, second, to facilitate a community forum wherein fellow researchers, practitioners, designers, and youth advancing student voice work in their local educational contexts exchange ideas and strategies.
