Ethnic Studies in Teacher Preparation: Programmatic and Cultural Shifts Supporting Ethnic Studies Teacher Development

Abstract
In this panel, we address the possibilities, tensions, and contradictions of institutionalizing Ethnic Studies in teacher preparation programs. The four studies presented examine how the first program in the nation to offer an Ethnic Studies Teaching Pathway reimagined teacher education to prepare secondary Social Science and English/Language Arts teacher candidates to teach Ethnic Studies in public K-12 urban schools.
