Latinx Experiences in U.S. Schools: Students, Teachers, Teacher Educators, and Education Allies as Collaborators

Abstract

The voices of students, teachers, teacher educators, and education allies who work closely with Latinx communities are often not privileged in research communities. In the spirit of this year’s call for collaboration between researchers and organizational stakeholders, we feature examples of powerful collaborations between and among various stakeholders invested in the educational experiences of Latinx children, youth, and young adults. We propose that the current derogatory characterization of Latinx communities is having a profoundly negative impact on students and educators across the education landscape, affecting both identity and sense of belonging in our society. The various papers in this session highlight case studies of how, by working collaboratively across organizations, we can imagine new possibilities in research and educational practices.
