Session Summary

Educational Collaborations and the Ontological Turns

Sat, April 18, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Virtual Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

Symposium participants will respond to problematics generated by AERA’s 2019 Call, which challenges us to construct and engage, “for the public good,” in “collaborative educational conversation” among researchers and organizational stakeholders. We particularly examine conceptions of “new research” that would ironically work to support the replication of static versions of “problem-solving education communities.” Participants thus variously challenge notions of congruent, knowable, and equally participatory understandings and enactings of: collaboration; conversation; community; power circulations; and “new research.” Symposium participants will respond to problematics generated by AERA’s 2019 Call, which challenges us to construct and engage, “for the public good,” in “collaborative educational conversation” among researchers and organizational stakeholders.
