Session Type: Paper Session
In this session scholars draw on Freire’s thought to address pressing and new social, political, and policy challenges. Contributors focus on the ways politics, commerce, and technology has turned to the body, the rise of artificial intelligence and new technologies in restructuring schooling, the new agendas of global governance organizations, and social movements mobilization against testing and other aspects of the neoliberal agenda. The panel draws on Freire’s insights to examine political and pedagogical struggles and possibilities at the scale of the globe, the nation, the state, the corporation, the school, and the body.
