Division G Fireside Chat. Stories of Collaboration, Justice, and Joy: Using the Academy to Advance Community Desires

Abstract

The 2020 Division G Fireside Chat will serve as a communal space for participants who are thinking about using their own positions in the academy as a way to advance the work communities desire. Building on the 2019 Division G Fireside Chat (Resisting the Academy: Transformative Approaches to Humanizing Research and Scholarship), this session will make space for dialogue among graduate students, early career scholars, and scholar-activists who want research to be created in collaboration with and made accountable to our communities. Story circles about the challenges and successes of community-centered academic research will put attendees in close conversation with invited scholars.
